1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Standard ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. The Standard is intended for users 18 years of age and older.
2. Description of Service
The Standard is a dating application platform that allows users to create personal dating application profiles and receive applications from potential partners. The Platform facilitates connections between consenting adults and does not guarantee any romantic outcomes.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. The Standard reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. User Conduct
You agree not to use the Platform to harass, intimidate, or harm other users. You agree not to submit false or misleading information on applications. All self-reported information including income, credit scores, and references is provided voluntarily and is not verified by The Standard. Users are solely responsible for the accuracy of information they provide.
5. Background Checks & Sensitive Information
Any background check or STI verification features are provided for informational purposes only. The Standard does not independently verify any user-submitted documentation. Users submit sensitive information voluntarily and at their own discretion. The Standard is not liable for the accuracy of any submitted verification documents.
6. Subscription & Payments
Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. All payments are processed securely through PayPal. The Standard does not store payment information. Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.
7. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period. Account deletion removes all your data from the Platform permanently and cannot be undone.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Standard is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be error-free or uninterrupted. The Standard is not responsible for the conduct of any user on or off the Platform.
9. No Verification of Screening Results
The Platform allows profile owners to request that applicants complete certain screening steps, which may include background checks, drug tests, STI testing, or interviews ("Screening Steps"). The Standard does not perform, administer, supervise, or independently verify the accuracy, authenticity, or completeness of any Screening Step or any document, result, or representation an applicant submits in connection with one. Screening Steps are facilitated solely between users, or between a user and a third-party provider the user selects; The Standard is not a party to, and assumes no responsibility for, those interactions or their outcomes.
Users are solely responsible for independently verifying the identity, statements, and any screening results of anyone they interact with through the Platform, and for exercising their own judgment before meeting any other user in person. The Standard expressly disclaims any liability arising from a user's reliance on a falsified, forged, incomplete, or otherwise inaccurate screening result, document, or representation submitted by another user, and from any harm, loss, or damages resulting from in-person meetings or relationships formed through the Platform.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Standard shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via email when possible.

1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly: name, email address, username, and profile information. We also collect application responses submitted through the Platform and usage data such as login times and feature interactions.
2. Sensitive Information
The Standard may collect sensitive information that users voluntarily submit including financial information (credit score ranges), health-related information (STI verification), and personal references. This information is submitted at the user's discretion and is only shared with the profile owner to whom the application is directed.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve the Platform, process payments, send service-related communications, and ensure platform safety. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Sharing
Application responses are shared only with the profile owner you applied to. Payment information is processed by PayPal and never stored by The Standard. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Data Storage
Your data is securely stored in our database and synced across all devices you use to access your account. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. We recommend using a strong, unique password for your account.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. You may delete your account through your profile settings. California residents have additional rights under CCPA including the right to know what data is collected and the right to deletion.
7. Cookies
The Standard uses minimal browser storage to maintain your login session. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
8. Children's Privacy
The Standard is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will terminate it immediately.

Monthly Subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions may be cancelled at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.
Annual Subscriptions
Annual subscriptions cancelled within 7 days of purchase are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations after 7 days will retain Premium access until the end of the annual period but are not eligible for a refund.
Exceptions
Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis for technical issues that prevented access to Premium features. To request an exception, contact us within 30 days of the charge at support@thestandard.app
How to Cancel
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard under Profile Settings → Cancel Subscription. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
